The International Department and Admission Centre of Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus of DNMU arranges a room for a student who arrives and explain the rules of living in the hostel. The process of accommodating is fixed and is the same at all DNMU Campuses. Upon the student’s arrival on campus, specific accommodations are assigned and after a satisfactory health report the student will be accommodated to the room which is arranged for him\her. Dormitory rooms at the hostels of the Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus usually accommodate 2 students to a room. There are three hostels of DNMU in Kirovohrad and all of them are close to the university. It is made with the purpose to facilitate the students’ life. All the students join classes on time and are never late because of transport reasons.
All the rooms in hostels of the Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus are provided with WI-FI, kitchens, washing-rooms, shower-rooms, laundry, study rooms and comfortably furnished living rooms to make students feel like living at home. All the rooms (single, double) are equipped with bed, mattress, pillow, bed linen, desk, chair, heater, lightening etc., which students may need for studying and resting. Also the rooms are provided with heaters. The territory of the University and the main students' routes from the hostels to the educational buildings are protected and patrolled by officers of guard service. There is security service at every entrance of the hostels so the students can enter only with the special hostel cards and no strangers can enter the students’ hostels without a special permission. Fire protection and 24 hours video monitoring systems ensure safety of the terrirory. The living environment at Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus is absolutely safe for girls and boys.
In the hostel kitchens are provided for students to cook food to their own taste. Students will need to supply their own kitchen utensils. Meals may be bought from various food markets. There is a big variety of food in Kirovohrad and it is possible to buy food according to the own tastes (Indian. Asian, Arab). Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus hostels feature 24-hour access to security and emergency services, making it easy to get assistance when you need it. As a campus resident, you also have access to all the Donetsk National Medical University (DNMU) support services such as campus Security Services, counselling Services and health Services.
If you take a University room, you will be required to sign a contract for the whole academic course. The contract commits you to rent your room and to follow our basic regulations. These are to ensure that everyone can live together happily and safely.
FLATTING
Some of students at Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus of DNMU prefer to live in a separate apartment. Every student who took this idea into consideration should mind that it will be in several times costlier to rent a separate apartment rather than to live in the students’ hostels.
If you decide to stay in the flat, you can make a research of apartment offers through local newspapers or by the local agencies. Vacant flats are advertised in the newspapers of Kirovohrad, on notice boards and through rental agencies. Students can find different kinds of flats. You will need to budget very carefully to meet all your expenses, before selecting a flat.
Normally the students who rent a separate apartment spend around 150$ and more per month if the location of the flat is in the centre or near to the University. The price for accommodation will depend on several aspects like size of the flat, number of rooms, furnished or non-furnished rooms, etc. You can also approach the University International office for the assistance regarding flatting.
COST OF LIVING
In order to live comfortably while you are in Kirovograd, you will need to have about 150-200 USD per month for the living expenses. The cost of living in Kirovohrad is cheaper than any other cities in the European countries. The mentioned amount can vary because of differences in the student’s lifestyle. Some students can cook and eat in the hostel, others can eat only out.
Upon arrival in Ukraine you should have some cash for immediate costs (e.g. airport costs or transport). You may need further funds in the form of traveller’s cheques which can be readily cashed. There are foreign exchange offices everywhere in Ukraine.
We usually suggest our students to open a bank account as soon as possible after arrival and don’t keep a big amount of money in cash. There are four banks with branches in the Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus. There are numerous automatic teller machines that dispense cash 24 hours a day.
Any major amounts of money may be sent in the form of a bank transfer, but electronic transfers are, in most cases, the most efficient method of sending funds to Ukraine. Payments can also be sent by western union and Money Gram. Overseas cheques are sometimes difficult to clear and are not recommended.
There are excellent opportunities for a full life in the Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus: stores and branch bank, barbershops, a dry-cleaner, parking land car service centre. After classes students can relax in different cafes and restaurants, enjoy their authentic national cuisine — African, Arab, Indian, Russian, Chinese, Georgian.
Life in Kirovohrad (Kropyvnytsky) Campus is friendly and safe. While at first some students may miss their home environment, native foods or friends they soon learn to appreciate and enjoy a cultural difference. After one month of living in Kirovohrad all the students adjust and feel happy studying and living in Ukraine, especially in such a peaceful and picturesque place as Kirovohrad City.
